Royal’s big NFL debut jazzes up Virginia Tech

Lewis burst into laughter when it was suggested that Royal had in one game almost as many receiving yards as the Hokies have managed in two games. They have totaled just 207.

“I know. That’s ridiculous,” he said. “That’s Eddie Royal for you.”

“Macho” Could See Double Duty at Tech: WHSV

Virginia Tech’s search for a playmaker at receiver has Frank Beamer looking at one of his stars on defense.

Senior Victor “Macho” Harris has been seeing some practice time with the receivers this summer. According to The Roanoke Times, Harris runs with the offense one practice period per day.

Harris was All-ACC at cornerback last season, and he’s also Tech’s primary kick returner.

Zach Luckett update … | PilotOnline.com

Zach Luckett update … | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com.

A little after 1 a.m. Sunday, Luckett backed his Mercury Mountaineer into a green dumpster in a store parking lot and pulled away without checking for damage, at which point he was pulled over. After a series of failed sobriety tests, Luckett then blew a .16 – twice the legal limit – back at the police station.

Because this is Luckett’s second DUI charge in less than five years, a police spokesman said, he faces a mandatory $500 fine and one-month jail sentence if convicted. He could spend as much as a year in jail, but would serve no less than 20 days if convicted.

Luckett has been arrested or cited by police at least once every year he’s been in Blacksburg. He was fined for public urination in 2006. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in 2007, which was later dismissed.
