Hokies nab 9th recruit – DE James Gayle from Bethel High

James Gayle, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end from Bethel High School in Hampton, has become the ninth football prospect to commit to Virginia Tech for 2009.

Gayle was timed in 4.5 seconds for 40 yards at a recent one-day Tech camp and received a scholarship offer on the spot. He said he had offers from nine Division I-A or I-AA programs, including North Carolina State, Syracuse, Purdue and ECU.

Gayle also attracted the interest of Virginia during a one-day camp there and was supposed to return to Charlottesville before ending his recruiting.

“What sold me was the one-day camp at Tech,” Gayle said. “It felt like a good fit.” Continue reading

Notice to change Virginia Tech weak PID passwords

An official e-mail was sent on July 24, 2008, from the Information Technology Security Office (ITSO) at Virginia Tech to PID account holders that have been identified as having a weak password associated with their account.

This e-mail will recommend the holder of that account immediately change the password to one that meets current guidelines. Only those account holders that receive the e-mail are required to change their password.

Failure to change the password within the allocated time frame will result in the account being deactivated.
